<%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%> Stagelights - Acting Members

Acting Members

We have approximately 35 Acting members of Stagelights at the present time, ranging in age from 4yrs up to quite high.

The cost of full membership is £10 per child and £25 per adult per year. This allows participation in all productions that we do without any other fees payable.

Our numbers fluctuate from year to year as some people leave us and others join. We are always very pleased to welcome new members, especially adults, and very especially men, young and old.

We would reiterate here that anyone wishing to join us doesn't need to have any experience of the stage, although if you did have some that would be an advantage, but rest assured we welcome everyone.

We do need two consent forms that the Parents of the Children must sign and hand in. To print these forms off please click on the button below

At the present time we are extremely lucky to have Rachel Williams as our Musical Director, making sure we all sing from the same 'Song sheet'.

In their "own words"

Adults

Pauline Hillberg

After being in several groups I joined the stagelights at it's conception, It was very exciting in helping to shape the success it has become. I love all Am-Dram has to offer. Childhood dreams come true for me on stage, magical roles such as the 'Cheshire Cat', a dotty playwright, a very wicked Witch amongst many others, and I get to sing wonderful songs from the musicals. In my present role I actually get to sing light opera from Gilbert & Sullivan's Mikado - How exciting is that. Roll on the next role, whatever it might be!!

Margaret Waller

I have been involved with Amateur Dramatics for 22 years and very much enjoy performing in plays, musicals and pantomimes. I joined the Stagelights in 2003 and am very pleased I did as it is a very happy group, so I hope to continue for many years to come.

Ingrid Coles

I am an enthusiastic amateur who enjoys singing and acting alongside my daughter, Georgina. I have not done anything like this since I left school but really enjoy the company of the group. I would recommend it to anyone. Just give it a go!

Viv Simpson

I joined the Stagelights in 2002 when the club first began, with my daughter Ellis, In 2003 my son George & Husband Alex joined. Since then I have been Stage Manager and have assisted backstage in every performance. I enjoy coming to Stagelights to meet with friends, especially my best friends Ingrid & Mark. This year I decided to give the position of Stage Manager a break and have a go at treading the boards instead and landed the role of a Courtier in Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs.

Marlene Cockell

I would say; if amateur dramatics is something you have been thinking about for a while but aren't sure, and you feel you would really enjoy being part of a drama group, then this is the one for you. My first impression was that there is no sniggering or putting down, and it has remained that way since I started over 2 years ago. I say "Go for it!"

Shelley O'Callaghan

Shelly joined the club so as to take a part in Snow White, and has enjoyed her role as Courtier very much. She didn't tell her husband, Ricky, that she was actually playing a role in the Pantomime so it would be a big surprise to him when he watched it. It took quite a bit for her and her children, Luke and Amelia to keep quiet about it and not to "let the cat out of the bag." She is looking forward to being in more plays and variety shows in the future.

Mandy Stone

I have just recently joined The stagelights, mainly due to my friend Shelly above, convincing me that I really ought to. Well I thought that I'd give it a go and was asked to play Kathy Metcalf in 'Who Killed the Director'. I was so nervous at the first rehearsal that I thought I was going to be sick, but each rehearsal since I have got more confident and I think I just might be starting to enjoy the experience now. It is the first time I have ever done anything like this and hope it wont be the last.

Sam Veitch

Sam has at last joined us, the last member of the family to do so. And very welcome she is too. Sam is very experienced in dance and song and will bring a great deal to the over all success of our shows.

John Hicks

I've been involved with Amateur dramatics for 39 years and have loved every minute of it but the 2 most enjoyable things I have ever done is 1. To get The Stagelights' up and running, to see it grow year on year into a great theatre club, friendly and not at all cliquey [we don't have any Prima Donnas] and 2. To write a full length pantomime and to see it performed and be a success. I enjoy all aspects of the Theatre and have stage-managed 11 productions, Directed 23 shows, plays and Pantomimes, and appeared in well over 30 full length productions. Not to mention being involved in many ways in a myriad of smaller shows and productions

Rod Cresswell

I have been with the Stagelights from the beginning, I started helping out with Front of House duties and eventually found myself getting involved in many different aspects of the club and was then coerced onto the stage for the 2003 Variety show. I enjoy the singing and dancing and have enjoyed the roles I have been lucky enough to get so far. I think the most fun was the Eunuch I played in 'Arabian nights'.

Mark Veitch

I joined the Stagelights in the winter of 2004 to play the Genie in the 2005 Panto. In the Spring of 2005 I was given the part of Victor, the lead role in a comedy play, 'Housekeeper Wanted', It was a large part!! I was a bit nervous about having to learn so many lines and fitting it in around my work as well, but the show was a great a success and gave me the confidence to take on the role of 'Buttons' in 'Cinderella'. I am currently rehearsing in the role of 'Chief Weasel' in 'Wind in the Willows'.

Mike Poole

Hi, I'm Mike and at 63, I am probably the oldest man in our group. I have been in Amateur Dramatics for quite a few years with various groups. I love singing, pantomime and any parts that are not too serious. I also play keyboard. Music has been in my family's blood for several generations, and I hope to be able to carry on for a good while longer, before I get too old and crotchety.

New Members

Peter Davies.

I am pleased to join 'The Stagelights'. I first got into 'Am-drams' at the age of 16, That was back home in Suffolk (Lowestoft Players) , I was with them for a few years, in the chorus and small roles in Pantomimes and musicals. I enjoy all aspects of the theatre, from behind the curtain and in the Audience. My wife and I often enjoy a visit to the Hippodrome and the playhouse at Weston. I am looking forward to spending a very happy time with 'The Stagelights'.

Joanna has just joined the Stagelights with her two children and has been roped into Sinbad the Sailor as well and is enjoying it very much. Her own words will appear her soon.

A similar story for Merle, as she came along with Sue to meet us all and wasn't allowed to leave without agreeing to be in Sinbad the Sailor. Choreographers

-----------------------

Sam

Sam Veitch is our head choreographer and very good at it she is too. Sam whips us all into some kind of shape.

and we are very lucky to have a few of our junior members who are enjoying getting their teeth into a bit of choreography too

-----------------------

Georgina

Georgina has helped with the Choreography for Snow White as well as various productions in the past, and is a real credit to the Stagelights. She is continuing to choreograph many dances in our shows and her professionalism shines through with every step she and her dancers take.

----------------------------------------

Rebecca

Rebecca's first real forray into choreography with the Stagelights was earlier last year (2006) when we did 'Wizard of Oz'. Rebecca had the dubious pleasure of taking the five Munchkins (average age about 5) and turning them into a dance troupe. This she did with such professionalism, and the end result was a joy to behold. The Munchkins certainly did the Club proud. Rebecca has gone on to choreograph more dances since then and is continuing to enjoy it

Rebecca

Bethany has done some very good choreography in our latest show Cabaret Weekend and continues to go from strength to strength in the theatre and music
